Stepping past fear is required if we are going to keep going and live our intended life.
Fear can be gripping, leaving you stuck where you are. It is natural and not to be discounted at all, but you must be able to step past your fear and keep going.
We have many fears throughout our lives, fear of failing, fear of something happening to a loved one, fear of not being good enough. The list can be endless, with all kinds of different phobias on the list.
Fear of rejection leads people to do things they usually wouldn’t do in their desire for acceptance. This can lead one down a dangerous and sometimes life-altering path. We must be willing to say no rather than follow because we are afraid of being rejected.
Worry is a by-product of fear. It will eat up your energy and, in the end, accomplishes nothing. Worrying does not change the situation. It only depletes your energy and takes your mind down a dark and windy road. In reality, it is just another word for fear.
There are times we cannot help worrying. Parents worry for a child. A loved one worries for another when they are in a dangerous occupation. The key is not to let the worrying and fear overtake you so that you cannot function.
At times, it is the hardest thing to stop worrying or to step past your fear and keep going. You must find ways to distract yourself and change your focus to something else.
If you find your fear is inhibiting you, talk to someone. Often just by talking, you can alleviate some of the anxiety that comes from worry and fear. If talking with a friend doesn’t help, there are groups for whatever fear you are facing.
We cannot control everything and must accept that sometimes, bad things will happen. You will find yourself in a situation where fear steps in and worry takes hold. Recognize this, know it doesn’t last, and do what you can to address or alleviate it.
Worst of all, fear takes your imagination on a trip and causes additional unnecessary stress. Your mind can very creatively imagine a hundred different scenarios, all bad, that will never come to fruition. More often than not, you cannot control the situation because it is dependent on other people’s actions.
Many things are out of our control. Pray and trust that life will unfold as it is meant to. The only time we are in control is when we are consciously stepping past fear.
