Get Into An Active State

The best way to accomplish anything is to get into an active state.

When you are inactive, not much is accomplished other than being idle. You are in a constant state of rest, which eventually turns to laziness and boredom.

When you are in an active state, things happen. You work on your goals, taking concrete and measured steps. It means that you are out in the world and not shut away.

You also look after yourself, mentally and physically, because you are moving. Even if the action is just retaining your ability to move, motion does that for you.

It doesn’t matter what is on your list to accomplish. The reality is, you cannot achieve anything from an inactive state. This state of being is where goals fall flat and dreams come to die.

If you are struggling to move from an inactive state to an active one, start slowly. Make a list of different ways you can make changes and categorize them into healthy lifestyle, goals, family, or whatever categories fits your needs.

Lifestyle and family can even go together. Activity can be done with your kids and grandkids that allow you to spend quality time with them while getting fit at the same time. Go for a walk, bike ride, swim. You can pursue more adventurous treks as well, as long as you have the mobility to do them.

Make a list of your goals, and then prioritize them. Sometimes, working on the smaller targets first can build confidence and helps increase your momentum.

By working activities on your goal, you are pursuing a dream or desire to accomplish it. List all the things you need to do, in order, to reach your goal and then start doing them. You can list all the items and then put them in order once you have a complete list.

Celebrate and savour your successes and happy moments along the way and then move on to the next. Keep the momentum and stay active.

Even when we want to have a few days off, we can remain active. We can learn a new recipe that we’ve wanted to try, read a book, contact friends. There are many ways to keep ourselves in an active, positive state.

When you are doing nothing and become bored, that is your cue. Only people in an inactive state become bored. They are not working toward any goal or spending real quality time with those they love. Instead, they are foundering.

The next time you find yourself sitting around, doing nothing and are bored, remind yourself that you need to shift your state. Get out of a stagnant place of idleness and get into an active state.
