There can be no real result without action.
If you want to improve your life or change your direction, you must take action. Even the slightest change, or smallest step, can bring you closer to your goals.
The result of inaction is consistent placement adhering you exactly where you are. Nothing will change, and if it does, it is either by accident or a change in the wrong direction. You become stuck and unsatisfied. Perhaps the result of inaction can also be considered failure and dissatisfaction.
If you are happy where you are at, then change is not required. The reality, though, is that every day we change. We age, hour by hour, second by second. Our thought patterns change as we age to adjust to our current needs and lifestyles. We also become aware of opportunities and events that compel us to make a change.
What satisfies us in our current moment may not continue to bring joy in the long term. That is because of our remarkable capacity to dream new dreams and discover ways to do something different or better. We enjoy our results and then move on to the next thing.
I can tell you that some people are happy being unhappy, but most are not. The worst thing is to be unhappy and take no action to change your situation. Small steps, whether they be introducing meditation, meeting new people, or volunteering, can all help improve your mindset.
I have no sympathy for someone who is unsatisfied with their life and refuses to take any action towards improving it. I will listen to complaints, and when asked, will offer suggestions. If the person continues to complain and takes no action, it speaks volumes. They are looking for someone to feel sorry for them and say, ‘poor you.’ I am not that person.
Please don’t get me wrong. I do sympathize and have compassion. I just don’t sit and wallow with people for the sake of wallowing. There is a time to be down, we all have that happen, but then it is time to take action and move forward.
It is when we become stagnant and blasé about our life that we begin sliding down the road of ‘poor me.’ Feeling sorry for ourselves gets us nowhere. Taking action to change our situation does. If we don’t take steps to change, we must understand that we will see no result without action.
When I am tired of being stuck inside, I get up and go out. Often, just being around people can make you feel better. Calling a friend can do the same. It is the action of doing something to address your emotional state when it is down that provides results.
When I don’t enjoy what I’m doing, I start looking for a different way to achieve the same goal or find something new. Fortunately for me, writing keeps my mind active and allows me to stretch my imagination. Research keeps me busy and interested, and topics, or stories, are constantly changing.
Once in a while, we take the wrong action and make things worse for ourselves. This is usually because we didn’t take time to figure out what or how we should do something, or we were trying to disprove a common-sense notion.
Never give up on yourself. It is essential to keep active and mobile. If it is hard, find an easier way to accomplish the same result. There is usually more than one way to do things.
It is important to inform yourself and then take the necessary steps towards achieving your goal. Map out the steps required and then begin the journey towards your goal.
Never forget that there can be no positive result without action.
