A Winters Rest

Today I sat
in the cold
staring
at the pure white snow
as the sun embraced
and kissed my face
warmth
within this cold,
cold day.

Gentle breezes
blowing by
yet the warmth stays
ever touching
ever bringing
a different kind of joy
a renewed strength of spirit
a distinct type of being.

As I sit quietly
looking across the lake
looking
at the footprints of people
the tracks of the riders
the glass of the ice
and in the distance
the cars driving by.

There is nothing
like a quiet
peaceful spot
that keeps your mind aglow
that lets your thoughts roam free
and lets your spirit soar
what a glorious day
what a beautiful gift
the sun shining down
on the freshly painted snow.
