Oh, how I long for those words
spoken in the sun cast meadow
where the tall grasses blew
and the butterflies flew
Where I knelt and wept
and you lifted my chin
saying ‘Rise, my child, and see.’
then stood and talked with me
How I wish I could recall
the words you gave to me
as you wiped my tears
and laid waste to my fears
How my heart sang
and my spirit soared
at the sound of your voice
and the depth of your choice
I know what you gave for me
and those who came behind
the depth of your love
still flowing from above
I hear the calling
the pull and the need
writing to uplift
freely sharing my gift
I sometimes wonder
why I cannot recall
the words that were spoken
the memory my only token
Something to remember
and never forget
a special gift to cherish
until the day I do perish
Your words captured
within the weaves of my soul
emblazoned by the spirit fire
to serve, in love, my only desire
Yet, oh, how I wait
to hear your voice again
to hear once more the song
oh, how I wish, oh, how I long.
