Give the Gift of Love

We are all blessed with the gift of love. It can be received and given. So, when you can, give the gift of love.

There are many different ways in which we love, each bringing its own joy. We love our families, our friends, our spouse and our children. We also love our pets and if we are lucky enough our jobs.

Everyone is born with love in our hearts; a capacity to love that never leaves. The ability to love remains with us from birth right up until we journey home. Even then we carry it with us.

Love is not meant to be hidden away. It is meant to be shared and given freely. We love not to be loved but to love fully, openly and honestly. Usually, our love is returned in kind but not always. This should not stop us from loving. Choose to love without looking for love in return. When you live with love you discover that love will find you.

When we live a life based on love we are more joyful. Kindness and compassion journey with us wherever we go because these traits are based on love. People are more easily drawn to us because we are joyful and happy; content in life, loving all we meet.

Even the mean and broken-spirited need love. They are the way they are because of a lack of love, whether it be the love of self or lack of love in general. They need to be shown what it means to love themselves and others.

This is a time of year that many spend in reflection. We remember those who have left to journey home often with sadness in our hearts. Try not to be sad for long and find joy in the fact that you loved them and were loved by them. There is no greater joy; no greater gift than that of love.

Jesus himself was a gift of love given to us so long ago. A gift without end and an everlasting example of how to love. He loved the poor, the lame and the lowly. It is during this season that we are reminded of this great gift.

So, as you look to a new day do so with love in your heart. Start every day with the intent to give the gift of love to all you meet.
