In the land of nowhere
and broken promises
we first met,
disguised as it was.
Moonlit beams
and lovers’ dreams,
we kissed there;
a romantic paradise.
Strolling along sandy beaches,
beneath the stars
we pledged love;
holding each other tight.
I watched, with sadness,
fear, and apprehension
as the veil dropped,
revealing reality’s truth.
A predator lurked
where once upon a time
a prince stood
pledging undying love.
A babe conceived,
changing reality once more;
a love bond,
strong and true.
Strength revealed herself,
healing wounds,
adhering the bond;
an eternal spiritual linking.
The invisible cord, indestructible,
stretched and frayed,
but never severed;
where true love lives.
Sadness and heartache rest
on tired veins;
a reminder, perhaps a warning
to the tethered soul.
Yet, the bond remains
on the heels of forgiveness;
sewn and stitched
with a mother’s love.
Where hope lives
love cannot die,
even in the land of nowhere
and broken promises.
