Love Abides

The foggy mist
skews my vision;
blurred obscurity
my only reality,
yet I strive
to look beyond.

Gathering in unison,
the moisture wells;
threatening to spill,
leaking slowly,
trying to escape,
finally cascading down.

Vision is lost
in the storm
as the water rages,
falling in torrents;
preventing escape,
forcing acknowledgment.

The loss,
the heartache,
shatter and break;
clattering recklessly,
winding their way
through a broken heart.

Grasping reality
I free-fall;
spiralling down,
losing control
as emotions rage,
refusing to remain.

The threads,
worn and tight,
break free;
unravelling sanity,
succumbing to sadness
as the dam breaks.

Time has no meaning,
it passes without notice;
day fades to night,
night gives way to dawn;
unknown and unseen
by one who mourns.

Exhaustion settles
like dust in the desert;
providing a cloak,
invisible to most,
seldom seen,
rarely mentioned.

Hope has waned,
beyond sight,
yet still I search;
stretching, reaching
for the light
to banish the darkness.

Faith remains,
strong and sure;
like solid granite
beneath my feet;
I rise again
and carry on.

Darkness fades,
washed away,
erased and blinded
by Spirits light;
banished to the depths,
exhausted and empty.

Hope survives,
unfolding slowly;
gathering speed
until joy returns,
wrapped in love
on angels wings,

The cycle continues,
endlessly and effortlessly;
peace and torment,
joy and sadness,
yet in the end
faith always wins.

The light shines,
dispelling the dark;
hope reigns,
eternal in faith;
peace emerges
and love abides.
