I Am Torn

I am torn
emotionally twisted
unleashed
my broken pieces fall

I just stare
at what was
searching
do nothing at all

A love lost
let loose
freed
never to return

I stare blankly
as they drop
salty
sorrows that burn

A child displaced
endlessly wandering
seeking
what I can’t say

My heart bleeding
endlessly hoping
praying
every single day

A vice grips
closing in
squeezing
not letting go

Blurring my vision
stealing breath
panic
embraces me so

Fear settles quickly
bringing frustration
doubt
slowly sets in

Until faith rises
bringing calm
peacefully
hope can begin

All is never lost
smiles come again
joyfully
I am reborn

This I’ll remember
gathering strength
eternally
when I am torn.
