Don’t play at it. Immerse yourself in your dream.
It is one thing to have a dream, another to reach out and grab it. Going after your dream takes courage and faith. It is stepping past your fear towards that which you were meant to do.
Everyone has a talent unique to them. While we have similar capabilities, they are varying enough that everyone can live their dream and find joy. So why isn’t everyone living their dream?
Life has a way of pigeonholing some of us into a job or career that we did not want and are not happy with. We can free ourselves of this, but so many people don’t because they are afraid of what others might think, or worse, of failing.
If you are to live your dream, you need to go all in. This doesn’t mean you have to quit your day job immediately. It means don’t dabble at it.
You can’t put one foot in and keep the other out and then say you tried because the truth is, you didn’t. You gave it a small effort and allowed yourself to say, ‘see, I was right, I can’t do it,’ or, ‘I am not good enough.’ Step fully into the circle of effort, and you will reap the rewards.
Dabbling is just that. It is meant for hobbies, not dreams. When you chase a dream, you need to invest. Invest in yourself and your vision. Put in the time and effort required.
Learn what is needed to realize your dream and then go for it. Don’t keep learning without action. That is just delaying. Trust yourself and know that if something doesn’t work right away, you might need to figure a particular piece out a little more.
We sometimes learn as we go. The learning process is continual because life is constantly changing and shifting. We must learn to adapt and change with it. Just because we have to change doesn’t mean we have to let go of our dream.
Sometimes, our passions and talents are made stronger with change. They become something better than even we could have imagined for ourselves.
Fear is the number one cause of people not going fully after their dreams. Not everybody will get what you are doing, and that is okay. Your gifts, perhaps, are not meant for all. They are meant for a specific niche group of people. Don’t let what others think or say hold you back. Instead, show them you are serious, and it can be done and done well.
You might fail a few times before you get your feet fully under you. This, too, is okay. Sometimes the failure is to see how much we really want something. At other times it is to ensure there are no issues with the service or product we are offering. Embrace it, learn from it, and let it make you stronger.
Your gifts should be shared with the world. Don’t keep them just for yourself. Live your passion, and don’t just dabble. Immerse yourself in your dream.
