Own Your Joy

Be happy. No one can do it for you. Only you can own your joy.

We are each responsible for our own happiness. So we owe it to ourselves to own the feeling and the responsibility for bringing joy into our lives. When you do this, you will realize that there is no place for negativity.

Life has many ups and downs and will definitely hold some sad and confusing times. The key is not to get stuck in the darkness and to keep moving toward that which will help make us shine.

Sometimes, we need friends and family to help lift us up and bring a little joy into our lives during difficult times. At other times, we can escape for a little while, whether it be into a book, a walk, or a movie. This allows us to let go, even if only for a little while, that which is pulling us down.

After a while, though, we must move consciously from one state into another. We can hold gratitude in the sadness, for it reinforces that we were happy. Happiness will come again. We would not feel one without first having experienced the other.

Only you know what things will lift your spirits and make you smile. Draw on those things during difficult periods, and they will help you get through them.

Your God-given talents, when utilized fully and put into the service of others, will also bring joy. Not only is there satisfaction in living an authentic life, there is a kind of peace that will settle on your shoulders, reminding you that the burdens are not that heavy

or long-lived.

Put yourself in situations where you can live authentically and remove yourself from ones that do not. Negative people and things that limit you only serve to dull your light and steal your joy.

Don’t be afraid of being happy. There is no such thing as being too happy. Fear can handcuff you in situations that are not healthy. The good news is you hold the keys.

Only you can permit yourself to be happy. Only you can own your joy.
