And, The Light Shone

And, the sun shone
casting darkness away
shedding warmth throughout
keeping nightmares at bay

And, the light beamed
renewing all it could touch
awakening the dormant
strengthening so much

And, the beam grew
sharing itself as it went
glowing stronger and brighter
the more it was spent

And, the people came
to bask in the light
feel the warmth sinking in
erasing the blight

And, they who knew
understood what it meant
more than just light
did it truly represent

And, the blessed smiled
enjoying the day
for the light was with them
always shining their way

And, when night fell
the day almost gone
they took it with them
and, still, the light shone

And, there came a knowing
gently sinking in
it was more than a beam
the light was within

And, they carried it with them
until they were gone
Angels ferrying them home
where forever, their light shone

And, they looked down
on those struggling and sad
sending light their way
so they wouldn’t feel bad

And, the cycle continued
life proceeded to go on
with the birth of another
for whom the light shone.
