Faith Emerges

For it is in the shadows
where I find light
and in the darkness
I can find God

Faith grows
small like a mustard seed
emerging through crude
and bitter places
breaking through
until it towers
and blossoms

Fruitful, it multiplies
nourishing souls
shining brighter
until all can see

The blind and lost turn
feeling the warmth
the soul sustained
the spirit strengthened
washed in everlasting glory

The proud are humbled
and the mighty fall
for what is power
but nothing
under the light of faith

Peace is possible
for the truly faithful
because where God is
alive in truth and love
there can be no hatred
no discrimination
and no war

Power seeks to own
and belittle
to control
and hold down
to rule without regard

Greed seeks to have
more than necessary
not sharing
or aiding anyone
thinking only of itself

Faith seeks only to believe
and to love
abundant in gratitude
for blessings bestowed
and peace within

The light shines
illuminating shadowy darkness
unveiling the enemy
for anyone wishing to see
not to judge
but to love and hope

For all can be returned
and hope lives always
for one who is faithful

Prayers are songs
from the light
the spirit communing
with God on high
bursting forth
like the morning sun
breaking free at dawn

Blessings bestowed
some left unseen
waiting to be discovered
at just the right time
for just the right person
when they are meant to occur

It takes nothing
a simple act
kindness, compassion
based in love
sitting back
I smile knowingly
and watch
as love expands
and faith emerges.
