A Christmas star came
to show the way,
to where in a manger
a baby did lay.
He brought joy,
an end to strife
and gave the gift
of eternal life.
He healed the sick
and welcomed the poor;
walked on water
and plenty more.
The shepherds followed,
the wise men came;
to see a newborn king,
not knowing even his name.
The star shone bright
for all to see;
a sign of love
that has lasted an eternity.
No normal night
is Christmas Eve,
joy and peace abound
for all who believe.
Now centuries later
as a world with Covid hums,
look to the sky
for a new star comes.
Perhaps a reminder
of days long ago,
to help us to remember
what we already know.
