Only You Can Heal Your Hurts

Don’t rely on others to fix all the problems in your life and ease your pain. Only you can heal your hurts.

Carrying around the pains from the past can be a heavy burden. A burden, that will weigh you down and prevent you from moving forward. While people may apologize or try to help, the only one that can ease the burden is yourself.

First, you must start by forgiving those that hurt you. This is something you do for yourself, not for the other person. It doesn’t matter whether they know or not, you are doing this for yourself. Once you forgive them, set down that burden and walk away from it. Do not pick it back up.

Next, you must forgive yourself for all the things you’ve done or have not done. Whether it be self-doubt, self-loathing, or even not taking care of yourself physically and/or mentally, you need to forgive yourself. Whatever pain you have inflicted on yourself you must forgive.

Forgiveness means truly letting go. When you let go of the hurt and anger you will find that the scars will heal. It may take a little time but they will heal. Again, you can’t keep picking up your hurts and anger, you just lay them down and leave them behind, if you do not nothing will change and you will never fully heal.

Once you have forgiven others and yourself then you need to determine what steps towards change you need to take. Change is required to ensure you don’t keep repeating the things that bring harm and replace them with things that bring love. By doing things that have a positive impact on your life you will start to become happier and more content with yourself and your life.

Finally, you must love yourself. It is impossible to fully love another when you do not love yourself. You must be accepting of your flaws and shortcomings and those things that make you feel different from the rest of the world. You are unique and wonderfully made.

Don’t expect others to fix your problems for you; only you can heal your hurts.
