Owning Your Light

Never stop learning

Don’t let others steal your flame, peace comes from owning your light and letting it shine.

We are all born with an eternal flame that resides within us. It is our link to the heavens, to God. You and you alone must be responsible for it.

Nurture your light so that it will shine bright. Feed your light with kindness, compassion, love and understanding. As you fan your flame with these traits you will find that not only are you strengthening your flame but you are fanning the flame of others.

The same is true of the opposite. If you belittle, put down, and abuse yourself, or others, you diminish your flame. Know too that no matter how loud you yell, rant or rave, it is but a small insignificant breeze to the light of another.

Nobody can diminish your flame (nor you theirs) unless you give them the power to do so. No matter what they throw at you, your light will continue to shine. If however, you decide to absorb the darkness then you have made a choice. This choice will diminish your flame. There is hope though because an eternal flame is just that. There will always be an ember waiting to be fanned. An ember, which when fed will grow bright once more.

Use your flame as a shield. It can bring calm amid the storm if you let it. Allow your flame to shine and you will be provided with a sense of peace. A peace, which no one can touch.

This doesn’t mean you won’t get sad, or even hurt at times beyond repair. What it means is that you will have the courage to keep going, to keep doing what is right. You will have hope.

When you feel things are out of control, sit quietly and just breathe in and out to steady yourself. As you continue to breathe in and out, reach inside with your mind’s eye and look to your flame. See it, watch how it flickers, feed it with good thoughts and intentions and watch it grow. Visualize it surrounding you and embracing you, like a second skin. This is your centre, your peace and your armour.

Protect it, feed it daily with prayer and never toss it away. You are responsible for it. It is yours, from the beginning until the end. Take care of it, be responsible for it and let it shine.

You and you alone are charged with the responsibility of your flame and owning your light.
