Many Things In Life Are Free

In a time where money is tight, people are turning to activities that are cost effective. It is not just material things that are free, many things in life are free.

Fun activities like biking, walking, hiking, throwing a frisbee are all free and most can be done solo or with friends. When gyms were closed people took to doing exercising in the park or in their back yard. You just need to get a little creative.

If you have access to a library, or a friend with books, reading is another free activity. Reading can help you escape for a little while into another world. It is like a mini vacation that you can hold in your hands.

If you are lucky enough to live by a lake with access, then swimming is free. If you have, or a friend will let you borrow, then you can enjoy the beauty of the water in a kayak or canoe. I find the water very calming. You need a healthy respect for it but the joy it provides …. all free.

Even many musicians are giving free concerts online. Music uplifts and soothes the soul. To have access to some of your favourite tunes is a gift for many,

What then of other things in life that are free? Smiles are free and often uplift others around you. When you see someone smile, usually you will smile back. Smiles lift your spirits as well, not just those you smile at.

Kindness and compassion are free, costing you nothing but paying you back in dividends. Easy simple every day things can be done to show kindness. Calling a friend, or neighbour to check in and make sure they are doing okay, costs only your time. It is free to others, offered by you, and free to you when offered by others.

Nature in all its glory is free. The fresh air, the sunshine, the moon, and yes, even the rain. All free for your enjoyment. The problem is most people take these things for granted and don’t stop to really appreciate them.

So, if life these days is getting you frustrated, or even depressed, look for things to do that are free and will lift your spirits. You shouldn’t have to look too far because many things in life are free.
