Think The Best

In all things, be positive and try to think the best rather than the worst.

It is easy to let your imagination roam (especially for us writers) when you don’t hear from someone or after you’ve fought. The challenge is not to think the worst but to have a positive outlook instead.

We manifest our thoughts, so if we believe that we are just going to get into another argument, we are. If we think we aren’t going to get the job, we won’t.

When we focus on the bad rather than the good, our actions and behaviours start to act as if the bad has already happened when in reality, it hasn’t. The opposite is just as likely to be possible if we put the same energy towards it.

How many times have you disagreed with someone and then played the conversation over and over again? Or, perhaps you prepared for a discussion, and it went entirely a different way. This happens a lot more with women, from what I’m told, but I know men who have also had these experiences.

When you sit worrying or wondering, you are putting energy into something you have no control over. Believe that everything is okay until you hear differently.

The best way to change your thoughts is to change your focus. Think about something else, or do something that will require your focus, so there is no room for stray negative thoughts. It is easier to turn off a switch and cut the negativity if you are focused on something else.

Please don’t walk around in the sun with an umbrella thinking it might rain. When it rains, you can get your umbrella and open it, but until then, find joy in the sunshine.

Sometimes, changing focus is hard to do. For me personally, I write as it allows me to enter a different world for a short time. Other times I may sketch something. I am not a great artist when it comes to drawing or painting, but I find comfort in it, and it takes my focus off what I was fretting about.

Find those switches for yourself that allow you to change your focus and stop worrying or thinking the worst, and once you do – use them. Until you are told differently, think the best.
