I am drained
to the very depths of my soul
parched within and without
I stand withering away
Lost within a world
whose windows have shuttered
I hunger beyond need
begging please look my way
A voice whispers
gently at first
growing louder
until I cannot shut it out
I am your rock
come rest on me
drink and eat
I feed what’s mine
Consume my light
until it fills your soul
and then stand,
and let your light shine
And so I rest
replenishing body and soul
hydrating and quenching
a long-lived thirst
Allowing His essence
to seep into my veins
filling me completely
until I’m ready to burst
I rise renewed
supple and sated
joyously I reveal myself
and let my light shine.
