We leap, and fall,
trying to leave the land of failures
and loneliness behind;
striving to clear the hurdles
and reach the land of dreams,
where our hopes
and desires dwell,
waiting for us to reach them.
But when we fail,
we must try again,
refusing to dwell
in the land of sorrows;
where tears create rivers
that silently flow,
and fears create barriers
with bristles and thorns.
We try, and try,
until we break free
from the chains that bind
in their attempt to hold us down;
we break free,
for ourselves,
and our dreams,
showing others the way.
We look back,
only once in a while
at the place we were
and are thankful;
we beckon others to join us,
to leave their fears,
their sorrows
and failed attempts behind.
Some will make the journey,
facing their destiny
with bravery
and a hopeful heart;
others will not,
stuck in the land,
their feet mired in the muck,
but we-we break free.
