It doesn’t matter how bad you want something. Desire without action yields nothing.
It is one thing to have a dream, another to reach out and grab it. No matter how big or small, a dream is just a dream until you do something to make it a reality.
If you want something, you must have two things. The first is the willingness, or courage, to do something about it. Turning a dream into a reality requires action.
The second is commitment. Without making a genuine commitment towards taking consistent action, lists are just that – lists and dreams remain dreams. You can have a list as long as your arm of all the things you want in life, but it will always remain a list until you do something about it.
Everyone who has ever achieved something in life first started with a dream or idea. They then broke it out into manageable pieces and started learning and then working towards completing each task. When they didn’t know something, they figured it out, either by asking someone who had already succeeded in the same area or educating themselves further.
Having courage and commitment doesn’t mean you aren’t afraid at some point, but you cannot let that fear control you. You have to be willing to proceed despite your fear.
Ask yourself what it is about succeeding that you are afraid of. Sometimes, when you know why you are afraid, you can overcome it. It is when we don’t know what we fear that we can become paralyzed. Be honest in your assessment. Acknowledge the fear and then step past it.
Whatever you do, don’t dabble. People who just take small stabs here, and there are only permitting themselves to fail. Dabbling is like building an excuse. There is no real effort or true commitment behind the action taken, and therefore success is almost always impossible.
So if you have a dream, set your goals and take action. Step beyond your fear and remember that desire without action yields nothing.
