The Tears I’ve Shed

The tears I’ve shed,
so many,
enough to fill a river,
and then some.

They flow freely,
releasing my sorrow,
until it pools,
silently at my feet.

When they dry,
sorrow has dissipated,
but not erased,
they will come once more.

They hurt,
they heal,
they gather,
they fall.

Like silent drops
in an ocean,
unseen,
unheard.

Yet, I will savour my tears
for in their releasing
comes a knowing,
that I loved fully.

Friends and parents passing,
beloved animals dying,
a child truly struggling,
these are the tears I’ve shed.
