Child of the Light

Let Your Light Shine

The darkness chases me always,
with an awful menacing might;
though it may try to dissuade me,
I will not let go of my light.

For God’s love is my armour,
His light my soul surrounds;
His legion of angels assist me,
as do saints with their haloed crowns.

The light will shine through the darkness,
chasing the shadows away;
all my anxiety, sadness and fears,
will be lessened and kept at bay.

When the times become too difficult,
and the pain too much to bear;
I’ll simply close my eyes and bow my head,
and say ‘Dear Lord please hear my prayer’.

And when the darkness calls on me,
doesn’t matter how forceful his might;
I will stand strong, I’m a child of God,
I am a survivor, I’m a child of the light.
