Don’t let life pass you by while you sit and watch from the sidelines. Get off of the sidelines and step onto the field.
There are two types of people, those that do, and those that don’t. You know the ones, they sit on the sidelines, often criticizing and judging others while taking no action themselves. They are never happy with anything unless they are finding fault with it.
Sitting on the sidelines and watching others is easy but it is not rewarding. You spend all your time watching others do things you yourself wish you could do. This breeds jealousy and sometimes anger. These are negative emotions that could be avoided if you just step onto the field and join the game.
Going after what you want takes courage and strength. You must believe in yourself and what you are doing. It means trying even if failing is possible. As long as we give it our all, then there is no shame in trying.
Do not kid yourself, success and change comes from doing not watching. It requires you to set a goal and map out the steps to get there. Yes, there are a select few in the right place at the right time who succeed quickly but the other 98% of us must work to make a difference. We must repeat and try, time and time again, until we get it right.
I try to live by this practice, ‘do not say anything you are not willing to do yourself’. We are all at different levels, physically, spiritually and emotionally, but we all can take action to effect change, to reach our goals and to make a difference as we go.
I have had a person tell me what they wanted to do, and have given them some steps towards completing their goal. This person had two choices, take action, or do nothing. Six months later they were talking about the same thing. They hadn’t tried anything suggested to them and had wasted their six months. They could have been half way to their goal, but instead were just sitting on the sidelines wishing for something to happen without taking any action. Nothing will change for them until they are ready to step into the game and take the necessary steps.
So, if there is something you are wanting to do, don’t talk about it, do it. Gather up your courage and step off the sidelines and onto the field.
