Fill Your Tank

I hear you my children

Make sure your tank is full so you aren’t running on empty.

We all must take care of ourselves and that means ensuring our tank is full so our light can shine brightly. Taking care of ourselves means we must look after several things; emotional stability, physical wellness and spiritual strength are all required for complete wellness of body and soul.

So the question begs how do we fill each tank to ensure we are running on all cylinders, generating enough fuel to shine our light? The answer is simply this, we must fill each tank thoughtfully and completely.

We must accept ourselves for who we are, embracing our flaws and being open to growth. Everyone struggles, everyone has crisis’s of the mind at times. If we acknowledge this and admit to ourselves that it is okay to be sad, to be worried, to be afraid, etc then we are half way there. The next thing to do is to accept but not dwell in these places. By changing our patterns and accepting our weaknesses we can look to our strengths and find joy. We can move through our struggles knowing they won’t last forever.

We must also be aware of how we feed our temples, the body that houses our spirit and sustains us. We must ensure that we nourish it with well balanced meals and exercise. Do not beat yourself up when you have a bad day or two, again, just do not dwell there but move back into healthier ways. This is easier for some than others but it is essential for us all and our well being,

Last but not least we must nurture or spirit. We must feed our soul which is the source of our light. Our mind and body are the engines that generate what we need but it is through prayer, meditation and bible study that we feed our spirit. The closer we are to God, the greater our light shines and the more balance and peace we find, not only in spirit but in mind as well.

All of these can be done at home. In a time of isolation the most important things we need, we already have, or have access to.

Make a list of what you are doing, a kind of self assessment in all three areas. Then list what you need to do in order to fill your tank.
