Just Breathe

When things are moving too fast, stop and take a breath. Sometimes, all we need to do, is to just slow down a bit and refocus. You are definitely worth the few seconds it takes to breathe in and out in order to release whatever it is that is causing you angst.

Everyone can get overwhelmed at times. Life is busy and sometimes we are so busy rushing from one thing to the next that we lose focus on what is important. We not only become rushed but can become anxious and short tempered. When this happens, take a few moments to stop and just breathe. Breathe in and out slowly and deeply; find your center.

By taking the time to just breathe we are able to slow things down around us and enter a calmer state. Not only does it help us but usually it helps those around us.

When we take a few moments to breathe in and out deeply we release the tension we are holding. Our bodies relax a little bit because our brain sends a message saying calm down and relax.

Taking a few minutes to breathe deeply relieves stress in our bodies and our minds. With practice, one can easily and quickly focus internally, taking in good air and letting out all the anxiety and stress. Some people silently say words to themselves to add to the effort, others visualize, some have signs or screen savers that say ‘just breathe’.

Whatever method you choose, just remember that when things get hectic and you are feeling overwhelmed or anxious, take a few minutes for yourself and just breathe.
