Little by little, I lose you;
a piece here,
and one there,
scattered,
crashing to the ground.
Little by little, I break;
a crack here,
and a chip there,
shattered,
into a million pieces.
I watch silently,
while demons
swoop in;
whisking you away,
far from my reach.
Over and over,
I reach;
throwing a rope
into darkness’s pit,
hoping you’ll grab hold.
Love reaches out
with open arms,
and warm hugs;
weeping with joy,
and then sorrow.
I love you,
I love you,
I love you;
it is never enough,
no matter how I yearn.
Come back to me,
oh, child of mine;
free from demons,
embrace the light,
let it wash you clean.
You can do it
my gentle soul;
grab hold the rope,
and climb;
try, try, please try.
One step,
one prayer;
return to me,
return to yourself,
oh, my son.
Life is a wonderful place,
full of love;
joy is yours,
waiting silently
for your return.
Come back to me,
rebuild anew;
remember your path
and you will get there,
little by little.
