If our life was like an ocean,
oh, the things that one would find;
all those broken little pieces,
hopes and dreams of every kind.
The pebbles washed ashore,
are all the people we have met;
the friends, the family and peers,
some too dear to ever forget.
Some days would roll on quite smoothly,
like calm seas with warm sunshine;
other days are way too stormy,
from our fears, both yours and mine.
All the garbage we’ve accumulated,
would churn, then wash away;
until all our lifelong hurts and pain,
were put to bed, and there, forever stay.
The light would shine and shimmer,
filling our hearts with joy and glee;
if our life were like an ocean,
I think, much happier we would be.
