It’s Okay to Cry

I don’t know why people say ‘suck it up’ or ‘be strong’ when your heart is breaking.  Things in this life can make us sad.  Sadness is a valid emotion.  If we didn’t know sadness we truly would not know joy.

Tears are part of the healing process.  We grieve, we feel sad.  The danger is not to dwell in a place of sorrow for very long. Grieve, allow yourself to cry, and then pick yourself up and start to rebuild or move on to the next chapter.  Just know that it is okay to cry, and to be comforted when we do.

Sometimes when we share our sadness and cry with another, it gives them permission to do the same.  It gives them a safe place where you will hear them, without judgment, and console them as they would you.

Psalm 34:17

The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.
