When Darkness Nears Fear Not

Let Your Light Shine

When darkness approaches fear not, instead shine your light to repel it.

Darkness cannot exist in the light, only shadows remain. When we are surrounded by the enemy, sometimes it is hard to let our light shine for it is pushed down by fear. This is when you need to calm yourself and look inside, drawing strength from the Spirit and its’ light within.

I am not saying put yourself in dangerous situations, or not to be cautious. What I am saying is that when we remain in the Spirit we have the ability to dispel the darkness, and the strength to survive the situation we are in.

When our thoughts turn to hatred, envy or jealousy we dim our lights and start slowly stepping into the shadows. We become depressed, we start to push those we care about away and we become unhappy. If you can recognize this, you can redirect your thoughts towards love, gratitude and compassion. These feelings are ones that bring joy, peace and happiness.

Sometimes, it takes a while and some practice in order to centre ourselves. Start by giving thanks for all your blessings every morning and every evening. When you do this you will find many things to be grateful for. If you are struggling with this, start simple and be grateful that you woke up, that you can read, walk, etc.

Once you have done that, tap into the love inside you and push it outwards into the world. Surround yourself in an invisible circle of light as you go about your day. It will take time to learn how to maintain this. You may need to visualize doing this several times a day but eventually, if you keep at it, it will become second nature and you can surround yourself in love and light quickly with just a thought.

Surrounding yourself in a circle of light and love is also a protection for yourself. It pushes away the darkness. You can see this as people who are dwelling in the shadows become uncomfortable in your presence. When you know this you can just push a little more light their way. I have a simple phrase I use, it is ‘shield up’. I only say it to myself but when I say those words in times of trouble I know and sense that I am surrounded by Gods’ light and love; the light of the Spirit will carry you through the storm and light a path for you.

Never forget that you have the light of the Spirit within you and when darkness nears fear not.
