Faith is a Journey

Faith doesn’t happen overnight, for most of us anyway. Faith is a journey, a trip we take throughout our life.

As we grow in spirituality, we grow in faith. As we grow in faith, we learn less to worry about controlling everything and understand that in the end it is more about the kind of person we are and how we lived our lives that is truly important. This doesn’t mean we aren’t responsible or accountable, it just means we know God is the one in control.

When we are young, if we are lucky enough, our family introduces us to God and faith. As we mature it is up to us to pursue and deepen our faith. So how does that happen? For those of us that attend a church, it is the same sermons recycled, so what is there for us? For me, it is where I receive Christ anew each and every week. Sometimes the sermons are great, sometimes okay and other times not so good but that is only a small part of it. It is up to me to do my part and determine how I can live the message of the week every day. I am far from perfect but each day I try to do better.

Every day is an opportunity to grow a little deeper in our faith, walk a little closer to God. Each day the choice is ours to make because after all, faith is a journey.
