In The Leaving

It is in the leaving where we discover that we are not just walking away, but walking towards.

No matter where you are leaving from, please understand that it is not an ending but a continuance of your journey. As your steps lead you away, they also lead you toward. For some, it is a new beginning, providing a fresh start.

Even when you don’t know where you are going or where you’ll end up, there is still a journey along the way, a destination lying ahead, stretching out into a land of opportunity.

It is up to you how you fair along your journey. It may be sad that you are going, but you can look forward to a new place, a fresh start, so to speak.

Today, I board a plane, leaving behind friends. God willing, we will see each other again, but if we do not meet again, they know I care about them. My journey is a returning. I return to friends and family and a life that I have chosen for myself.

My life is not always easy, nor is it always happy. You might think that funny coming from an inspirational blogger who always looks for a positive spin on things. It is the truth. We all have days where tears flow, angry words hurt, and the things we wish we could change are out of our control. The difference for me, as most of you are aware, is that I have strong faith.

Those closest to me understand the dynamics of my pain, and they bring me much comfort. They are my sounding board, my reassurance, my stress relief, and on occasion, have been my search party, walking alongside me looking for the lost and missing.

I am all too familiar with the fact that when we leave, we might not come back. That is why I look for joy in my journey each and every day, making sure those I love know it. I greet each day with thanksgiving and a grateful heart for all the blessings I have had in my life and those yet to come.

Leaving is never the end. It is the start. Try to keep this mindset. It will serve you and get you through the more difficult departures in your life.

Even in death, we go on. I know some don’t think that. In fact, I have a few friends that think this way. We don’t love each other any less, nor are they bad people. I just happen to believe they will come to know the truth when the time arrives.

You will find that as life rolls by, there will be many leavings. We leave our childhood home, first residence, schools, jobs, etc. The list is endless, and the places we go are varied.

Leaving is a guaranteed thing in life. Knowing this, make sure to take and find moments of joy in your journey. Everything is a stage, and leaving will quickly turn to arriving.

So, if you are departing, walking away from your current situation, whatever that may be, hold hope in your heart. Remember, that is in the leaving where we begin our next journey.
