Walking In The Light

Sometimes in the light, they call me
the fears, the worries, the doubt
working to steal my joy
attempting to cast it out

They don’t know my secret
it’s a little thing called prayer
a warriors shield of light
invisible yet always there

The hurts of the past may linger
trying ever to lure me in
but forgiveness was given long ago
so pain can no longer win

I am a child of God
and ever strong is my faith
the enemy batters constantly
but I am no wispy wraith

God’s light, it is my armour
His love, my mighty shield
and when confronted by the enemy
my faith I fully wield

So while shadows cast around me
try as hard as the enemy might
the rays repel the darkness
when I’m walking in the light

The light dispels the shadows
the enemy’s efforts fail in vain
forever I carry my shield
as I know, he will try again

Forgiveness was my healing
rinsing the anger and sorrow away
the light my guiding path
that keeps the enemy at bay

How angry must he be
that his darkness can’t survive
an eternal flame of light
by the Spirit kept alive

So if the enemy is chasing you
and putting up a fight
remember how easy it is to defeat him
when you are walking in the light
