Weep No More

My loved one, taken
way too soon
caught off guard
I remain unbalanced

Sorrow, leaking from my eyes
heartache renewed each day
each breath I take
a gift, but also a reminder,
that now I walk forward less one

Why must he go?
Why did you take him from me?
Invisible fists beating
on an invisible space

My soul aches
for the one lost
brother, son, uncle,
father, friend

God came and whispered in his ear
‘Your struggles and pain are over my beloved’
angels, gathering him in their arms
leading him home

God looked down
on those left behind
‘Weep not long my children
you will be together again one day
and then, you will never
be separated again.’

I cry for my loss
yet I know we will meet again
and though my sorrow fills me
there is hope, and love

A love carried for a lifetime
smiles, flying in on memories
laughter bubbling up in joy
for I have loved
a love that was pure.

So I will embrace the love
cherish my memories
gather myself up
and weep no more.
