I’m Not Perfect and That’s Okay

No matter what I do or don’t do in life, I’m okay. I may not be perfect but I’m brave enough to own it. That is the key to being okay.

Understanding that we are not perfect, and that we all make mistakes is important to our self-acceptance and self-love. If, every time we make a mistake, we beat ourselves up and put ourselves down, we are saying it is not okay to try. It leads to depression, self-loathing and self-sabotage.

It is better to try, and make a mistake, than not try at all. When we try and fail we learn what not to do next time. As long as we don’t keep repeating the same mistakes, we are growing. That is a great thing, not something to be frowned upon.

When you make a mistake, be brave. If you’ve hurt someone, be brave and tell them you’re sorry. If you’ve done something wrong, be brave and own up to it. Everyone must own their mistakes, you are not alone in this.

So when you make a mistake, be brave, learn from it and own it. Say to yourself ‘I am not perfect, and that’s okay.’
