Every day make sure you are taking time to live your life.
It is easy to get busy and fall into a routine and put yourself on auto pilot. The problem with this is that we stop taking time to experience our life.
It is essential to infuse the monotonous tasks of everyday living with meaningful moments. These are moments that make you smile, bring you peace and restore you to your authentic self.
The worst thing that can happen is we get to the end and look back with regret, wishing we spent more time with those we loved or learning to do the things that brought us joy. We wish we had stopped to smell the roses, enjoy the views and, well, just lived more.
When we take the time to pay attention to what is happening around us and to us during the day, we can identify those things that feed our authentic selves and those that do not. I choose to dump things that don’t offer value. Life is too short to be doing stuff we hate.
Unfortunately, some things can not be dumped, like cleaning the house. I had to find a way to make it more joyful, so at least I wasn’t resenting the chore or missing an opportunity for joy. I believe I have said it in earlier posts, but I’ll share my secret to happy cleaning. Sing, dance or whistle while you work. I love music, so I crank up the tunes and dance while I work away as often as I can. It makes cleaning go faster, I get a little more active, and it makes me smile.
Look for those opportunities to bring that joy into your life. Enjoy life as it unfolds around you and let it flow through you. You will be surprised to find that life becomes a little less drab and a lot more colourful.
Of course, the choice is up to you. Life is what you make it, and you can choose to live an authentic life full of joy and gratitude or one full of regret and melancholy.
My wish for you is that no matter your circumstances, you will find a joyful way each day to live your life.
