The one thing a lot of people forget as they are building, or working through, their careers is to invest in themselves. You actually need to pay yourself first.
There is no better investment than your future. By taking just 10% of your money and putting it aside into something you won’t touch, you actually allow yourself to save for retirement. At first it may be tight but you will find you actually learn to live without that money and you will not miss it. Make sure when your pay increases, that your payment to yourself does as well,
There is more to it though than investing financially in yourself, you need to also invest in your mental and spiritual health. Find time each day for yourself, whether it is to meditate, walk, sing, or something else; one must take care of themselves fully to obtain peace and happiness.
When something good happens, say a prayer of thanks. When something bad happens, say a prayer for strength and understanding. When we are spiritually aware we understand that prayer is a conversation with God and it comes easily. When we take care of our spirit we are more peaceful and can handle almost anything that comes our way with Grace.
We invest in our jobs, our families, our marriages and often forget that we need to take care of ourselves as well. There is nothing more rewarding. It benefits not just us, but those around us. So go ahead, give you the permission to invest in yourself.
