The Compassionate Mysteries

I received these mysteries shortly after my pilgrimage to Italy and Medjugorje last fall. I was getting ready to pray my rosary, and had picked up my booklet to say the next set of mysteries. One would think after all these years I would have them memorized, but this is a special booklet with lovely images corresponding to each mystery. The booklet helps me focus on each mystery as I pray them. I have kept it for years and maintained its condition as best as I can.

Just before I was about to start my rosary, a now familiar voice told me to pray the compassionate mysteries. I had never heard of the compassionate mysteries before, so I did what any person might do. I did an internet search and found nothing. The voice persisted until I finally said in frustration, “I can’t pray what I don’t know, and I can’t find them anywhere.”

The response was immediate. “You do know them. They are the stoning of the woman, the healing of the leper, the healing of the blind, the raising of Lazareth, and the healing of the soldiers ear.“ It was so quick I could not remember, or perhaps I was worried I might not remember them. I searched again, and once more the results revealed these mysteries did not exist, or have not been recorded.

I called upon Jesus to say how can I pray that which does not exist, to which he responded, “You do know them, my child. Just start praying and you will see and hear them.” I am a messenger, so by now I know to listen when Spirit speaks. Picking up my rosary I began to pray. As I went to the first decade, the Lord revealed the full first compassionate mystery to me, and then the next as I proceeded.

After praying the rosary, I immediately wrote them down so I would not forget them. I’m not one to forget occurrences like this, but one never knows, and this was definitely important.

I began saying these mysteries every day and only shared them with a few key people. A few weeks later the voice was back and I was asked to send them to the Holy See. I could only guess this meant Pope Francis, so I penned a letter and sent the mysteries off to him, not expecting an answer.

Little did I know it wouldn’t be long before God called our beloved Pope home, and a new pope would be named. Of course, several weeks after, I was once again called to send them to the Holy See. I still don’t know if either pope has even laid eyes on them or not, as I expect there is someone who goes through all their mail first. They could be sitting in a pile, but it is not my concern. I do as God asks, and then leave the rest to him.

That brings us here, to you. It is now time to share these beautiful compassionate mysteries. I will tell you there are small changes to the standard prayers as follows:

When saying the O my Jesus, prayer, add the words compassionate mercy, as shown below.

“O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who are in most need of Thy compassionate mercy.”

When saying the Hail, Holy Queen prayer add the words ‘let His compassionate heart rest in ours.,’ as shown below.

“Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary, let His compassionate heart rest in ours.”

The following video provides each mystery as given to me in October of 2024.

P.s. Interestingly enough, I have since lost my little rosary booklet and can find it nowhere in my house. I do still pray the other mysteries, but mostly I pray the compassionate mysteries now, as I was asked to do.

May God bless you and keep you in his care always.
