A Heart Torn

A tear,
sliding gently,
trying to escape
and fall
into a pool of sorrow.

Lost dreams,
once written,
desired to be fulfilled
but pushed
always forward til the morrow.

So many things,
left undone,
leaving a hole
to be filled
where happiness once flowed.

Sadness falling,
covering all,
like a blanket
forgotten
needing to be stowed.

A void,
in need of filling,
darkness,
vast and empty
every night and morn.

This is loss,
and grief,
and misery
for one
with a heart torn.
